Electrical Techniques Program Advisory Committee (PAC)

Niagara college are looking for new members in the contractor field to advise on curriculum, industry trends, required skills, co-op / internship opportunities, and program quality assurance processes per the enclosed letter (CLICK HERE).

I have been on this advisory board for a few years now. One item I brought to the college was the significant impact lighting and lighting controls had on commercial projects. They now have this as part of their curriculum.

I would really encourage contractors to get involved and have an impact on the new people entering the trade.

Thank you,

Tom Parente

ROBOTICS COMPETITION

NEA Members volunteer at the annual Robotics Competition for several years now. Our own Peter Janzen was awarded the 2019 Volunteer of the Year recognition for his ongoing contribution to the event.

The VEX EDR system harnesses the excitement of building robots to immerse learners in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) concepts. Educators can bring VEX EDR into the classroom with our custom-made curriculum or use it as a standalone teaching tool in after-school robotics clubs.

SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR

NEA Members volunteer at the annual event held at Brock University. We provide a prize/bursary for those showing exemplary skill in submissions in the electronics field.

The Niagara Regional Science and Engineering Fair is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the encouragement of science in students within the Niagara Region. The fair is a prestigious annual science event within the region sponsored by local businesses, and held at either Brock University or Niagara College.

Over 200 young Canadian scientists participate at this event. Their accomplishments are reviewed by approximately 100 judges and delegations of local scientists, engineers and businessmen.

The fair is economically beneficial to the community but also provides a scientific stimulus for our youth facing a challenge in our modern society. The Niagara Regional Science and Engineering Fair is endorsed by Brock University, Niagara College, the District School Board of Niagara, the Niagara Catholic District School Board and le Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud.
